Candidate for Student Member of the Board

A seat at the
table for students.

I'm Yasha van Praagh, and I'm running so the people most affected by board decisions actually have a real voice in them. Honest representation, open doors, and pressure where it counts.

Read the platform

I'll show up, ask the hard questions, and report back — every single time.

Board meetings shouldn't be a black box. As your representative I'll publish plain-language summaries after every session, run open office hours, and bring student-written proposals straight to the table.

What I'm running on

Three commitments I'll fight for from day one on the board.

01

Real transparency

Plain-language recaps after every board meeting, a public record of how I voted, and a standing channel for you to flag what matters before decisions are made.

02

Affordable student life

Push back on fee hikes, fight for fairer housing and meal costs, and make sure financial pressure never decides who gets to finish their degree.

03

Wellbeing that works

Shorter waits for counselling, mental-health support that's actually funded, and study spaces that stay open when students really need them.

I've spent three years organising, listening, and getting things done in student spaces. The board is the next room I want to change.

I'm a third-year student who's served on faculty councils, run the student housing campaign, and sat through enough closed-door meetings to know what real representation looks like — and what fake representation looks like too.

I'm not running to add a line to my CV. I'm running because the board makes decisions about our money, our courses, and our futures, and right now students barely get a word in. I want to change that, and I'll need your vote to do it.

Voting opens
June 12th.

Pledge your vote now and I'll send you a reminder the moment the ballot opens. It takes thirty seconds.
